Writing Contest

KidsCast will be awarding prizes every month for essay submissions written by Missouri students.  All you have to do to win is choose an essay topic, write 100 words or more on that topic, and fill out our online form.  You will be notified if you have won a prize.  Even if you don't win a prize, your entry will be presented here at KidsCastRadio.com. You may also get to be part of our weekly radio show airing on stations across Missouri.

• Safe Schools - Begin your essay with "I believe my school is a safe place because..."
• Alcohol - Begin your essay with "Most kids don't drink alcohol because..."
  
• Friendships - Begin your essay with "I will always be friends with ___________ because..."
  
• Smoking - Begin your essay with "Some of the things I would rather do than smoke are..."
  
• Drugs - Begin your essay with "This is how I learned that drugs are bad for me."
  
• Safe Communities - Begin your essay with "When I'm older, I will help keep my community safe by..."
  
• Role Models - Begin your essay with "Three things I've learned from my role models are..."
  
• Making Positive Choices - Begin your essay with "I made a positive choice this week by..."
  
• Healthy Bodies - Begin your essay with "Let me tell you about one food I eat that's healthy and one activity I participate in that's healthy."

 

Eligibility: Any student in 1st through 6th grade is eligible to win a prize. 

Rules: All submissions must be written by a single person.  The submission must include the writer's first name, age, address, telephone number, and school they attend. Personal information will only be used to contact winners or those chosen to participate on the radio show. The only information published on the KidsCast website will be the person's first name and school.

Prizes: Each essay winner will be awarded a prize not to exceed the value of $100.  The prize will be sent to the winner through U.S. mail.  There will also be at least one grand prizewinner chosen on a date yet to be determined.  That person will win a brand new computer system.  The grand prizewinner will be chosen from among all the essay submissions received.
